SRVCE Selected for Massachusetts DESE K-12 History Social Science Curricular Materials Guide

We are proud to announce that Massachusetts teachers chose SRVCE as one of the 4 “strongest supplemental materials” for student-led civics projects in a review of 100+ resources conducted for the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (MA DESE). Co-designed with teachers, SRVCE is the only free resource of the 4 to receive this honor.

In this review, teachers commended SRVCE as follows:

  • Materials provide students with opportunities to use their learning to take action on current issues.
  • Students have ownership of their learning as they drive the exploration of issues they care about, choose the focus of their research, and make their own plans to take action.
  • Students have regular opportunities to connect their identities to their learning.
  • Materials include a student-facing civics project rubric as well as a range of student reflection tools and planning resources to set clear expectations and support students.
